Klein v. Leis Amicus Brief

Case information: Klein v. Leis, 795 N.E. 2d 633 (Ohio 2003) (No. 02-585)

At issue : Challenging state’s concealed carry ban. This case challenged Ohio’s statute prohibiting the carrying of concealed firearms.

Law Center’s Brief: Our brief argues that regulating concealed weapons is a reasonable exercise of the legislature’s power, and that the legislature, not the courts, is better able to fashion solutions to gun violence. This brief was submitted to the Ohio Supreme Court in support of the constitutionality of the statute and to persuade the court to grant the appeal. The court granted the appeal, and ultimately upheld the statute.
