Giffords Law Center’s Post-Heller Litigation Summary surveys the landscape of Second Amendment challenges to federal, state and local gun laws that have been filed since the United States Supreme Court’s landmark 2008 decision in District of Columbia v. Heller.

As described in the Post-Heller Litigation Summary, lower courts considering Second Amendment challenges have taken seriously the Supreme Court’s instruction in Heller that the Second Amendment is “not unlimited” by consistently voting to uphold laws that protect the public without infringing constitutional rights.
