In 2021, Iowa adopted a law giving the firearm industry special immunity from civil lawsuits. The law prohibits lawsuits against gun manufacturers, sellers or dealers that stem from the lawful marketing of or unlawful use of a firearm (with narrow exceptions), and also awards attorneys fees in any action that has been dismissed as barred under the immunity provisions.1
