In 2017, New Hampshire changed its law to allow individuals to carry loaded handguns in vehicles without a license. New Hampshire still prohibits, however, the carrying of loaded rifles or shotguns in a motor vehicle.1

All firearms, including handguns, carried in

  • an off-highway recreational vehicle or a trailer towed by an off-highway recreational vehicle ((N.H. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 215-A:20.)) or
  • a snowmobile or a trailer towed by a snowmobile2

must be unloaded, however.
